This is how you do it

When I checked my mail today the last thing I expected to see was my candle from WGSCandleCo! She shipped this little jewel out mega fast! I was immediately impressed by her little stamped box. So cute and professional!

WGSCandleCo also included an awesome business card printed front and back. Great design and not the typical "business card" shape. Very original!

The smell of Amaretto Chocolate wafted up from the box! Oh and my favorite color is purple. Pretty and secure packing materials!

I popped the candle in an old teacup, but she sells the Shot Glasses online. They're beautiful! For the record, she did not ask me to blog about her product. In fact she does not know I'm writing about the customer experience. I simply want to make a point. I've been reading in the Etsy forums little tiffs and arguments about whether pretty professional packaging is important or shipping time and "getting it out the door as fast as you can" is. Why can't it be both to create a memorable purchase and delivery? WGSCandleCo proves it CAN be both.

Thanks WGSCandleCo. :)

Rose, Golden Saffron, Watermelon OH MY!

Today I went nuts over some beads and things, came straight home and got to work! I've been looking for an intense, bold, loud pink and found just that.

Lovin the yellow!

The pink mosiac mother of pearl earrings remind me of stained glass!

Blazin Fumes

I'm not sure what this dog is eating, but he's had the WORST gas lately. I've been monitoring his food, and he's eating the appropriate amount...

I went out today and took him for a walk and noticed patches of grass that are gone. Actually, patches of wild onions that have been ripped up. He must be eating these onions when I'm not looking. What a wack-a-doo!
I might slip a beano in his Nutro Puppy Max. HA!
(Thats my sister btw!)

Fried Lovin

Ha! Thats all that needs to be said.

Jagged Lil John Hancock

No matter your opinion on the HCR Bill (I'm PRO!), you have to admit, this signature is nuts!

Obama had to use a million pens to sign this thing. Look how jagged that "O" is! Hahaha!

The Looking Glass and Emerald City

Today I listed the VERY last of two of my most popular items...The Looking Glass Necklace and Emerald City Earrings...

The Looking Glass Necklace is a focal piece not for the weary! Sure to be noticed in the soft golden necklace!

The Emerald City Earrings have dwindled from 8 pairs to ONE! Gorgeous hunks of faceted green teardrops hang on antique brass.

Add a Lil GOOP

Check out Gwyneth Paltrow's blog, GOOP! It's full of info on shopping, exercise, food, includes fitness videos, etc. I'm planning her detox and look forward to making her cookies as a reward. Does that defeat the purpose of detox? LOL

Soft Gold

Soft golds are SO in this spring. Look in any home or design mag and see these golds in furniture, linens, lighting, etc!

CHAIR CRAZY!

I kind of have this weird chair fetish. I'm obsessed with different shapes, colors, styles, etc. My at home color palette is full of grays, purples, and mustard yellows. I cannot believe I found this vintage mustard colored chair at a ReStore. It's in PERFECT condition, doesn't even look like it's been sat on. Guess how much I paid for it?

$8.00. yessss.

A comparable chair at Urban Outfitters is going for $200.

To Wash Or Not To Wash

Okay...so this may be crossing the line as far as going green goes...

I've heard girlfriends buzzing about a new trend in denim washing- or not washing. Apparently if you fold your dirty jeans neatly, put them into a freezer bag, and leave them in the freezer for 24 hours, all the bacteria is killed. The end result is a pair of jeans that lose less color pigment, you don't use water in washing the jeans, and they have that new crisp feeling. I don't know if that's prior to thawing or not, lol. Obviously freezing won't remove stains, but proponents say that's part of the charm.

What I'm wondering about is the fit. When I reach for those freshly washed jeans I expect them to have no give and they're a bit smaller. But, thats what you get with jeans...you wear them for a bit and they stretch out. You can't get this with freezing.

At least, I don't think so. I may try this experiment over the weekend. Have you ever tried it?

Sighhhh

I simply love these picasso glazed glass earrings. They feel smooth like glass, but def look like an aged piece of...well....something earthy or maybe oxidized. I'm nuts about them. Going to see if I can aquire more! The photos don't do them justice. :)

Hangin With Mr. Cooper

Check out Cooper, our newest addition! He needs wrinkle cream already and he's only 13 weeks!

Easy DIY: Fabric Photo Mat From a Pizza Box

Check this easy peasy project from Ohdeedoh! Eco-friendly, fun, and endless options!

The Last Supper

INCREDIBLY in LOVE with the "The Last Supper" table by Studio Lawrence! So modular, varying color options, and very clean design. Offices are located in Rotterdam and London.

Easy DIY: Using Fabric Markers

Fabric markers are an easy way to add a clean and bold pop of color to tea towels, pillow cases, plain tees, curtains, tablecloths, runners, etc. It's best to use one color per project and it looks really cool if the design is graphic and geometric! You could even pen a pattern on paper and lay your fabric over it to trace a design if you're no good at freehanding (guilty). A lightbox might be useful!

BTW I'm diggin the yellow! :)

A Teeny History Lesson

Birthplace of Pepsi-Cola

Tryon Palace- First Capital of NC colonized in 1710

Trent and Neuse Rivers intersecting

I know most of you live off in other states and countries and have no clue where New Bern is! My hometown is a little pencil prick of a dot (and growing) in eastern North Carolina. This small town is famous for its twin rivers that intersect before meeting the sea, it is the first capital of NC (founded in 1710), and it is the birthplace of Pepsi-Cola.

What Color Are You?

I had fun taking this color quiz!

Most people make a scrunched up face when I tell them my favorite color is gray! Why not? There are SO many hues and tones out there that are gorgeous, it's easy on the eyes first thing in the morning (as a wall color), and it's an incredible canvas for jewel tones and pastels alike. Not to mention, I think a charcoal shaded man's suit is the most sexy thing out there.

...and the color quiz was right!

What color are you? Do you have alot of those colors in your house or clothing?

I Love Aqua

That watery hue is so soothing to me... reminds me of trips to the beach.
These earrings sparkle like no other and are extremely lightweight. Even made myself a pair!

First Post

Hey guys, this is my first post on blogger! I have had an account with Vox, but had trouble keeping up with all my friends here on blogger. I'm excited to join the blogging community here!

My blog is going to be completely at random... expect to see posts about my shop, others shops, my favorite modern designs in housewares and furniture, politics, policy, and the occasional bits of celebrity gossip!

Happy reading! I look forward to meeting you, pop me a message, and feel free to comment away!
